Data Center Update

Two data center projects in Maryland—one in Dickerson and the other a few miles north in Frederick County—are now in various stages of development. Whether this is the beginning of an industrial trend in our area and across the state is an open and important question. Data Centers are a necessity of modern life. But where they are built, how they operate, and where they get the large amount of electricity they need have become contentious issues. See our updated web post on the two projects here.

Reminders

MoCo Planning Board Session
The Montgomery County Planning Board will discuss two projects of local interest on Thursday Sept. 5 starting at 10:30am. One is the Dickerson data center project mentioned above. The other is a farm-based solar installation (Chaberton Solar Sugarloaf), also in Dickerson. The session is open to the public and you can comment or testify, or just watch the proceedings. Sept. 15 “Ride for the Reserve”
Please join us on Sunday Sept. 15 for Montgomery Countryside Alliance’s annual bike ride celebrating and supporting the Ag Reserve. It’s a great community event.
