Dickerson Incinerator: Updates from Montgomery County
In our ongoing effort to keep SCA members informed about issues related to the Dickerson incinerator and Montgomery County’s solid waste management, we’ll share relevant alerts and updates here as we receive them from the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection’s Recycling and Resource Management Division.
This page will serve as a running record of these updates so members can easily follow recent developments and review past alerts.
October 5, 2026 — Update from Montgomery County
CSX did not provide a train on Saturday, October 3, and notified the County this morning that no train service would be provided today.
To reduce the risk of fire at the Transfer Station, up to 50 loads of municipal solid waste (MSW) per day will be trucked from the Transfer Station to the Resource Recovery Facility today and tomorrow. If CSX resumes service tomorrow, trucking will stop as soon as Reworld is able to clear the pit at the Transfer Station.
For questions or additional information, please contact Lonnie Heflin, Chief, Materials Management Division.
