Help Protect the Agricultural Reserve

Join Sugarloaf Citizens Association in celebrating the land, its farmers, and the community that sustains it. Your sponsorship will help make this special farm-to-table gathering possible while supporting SCA’s ongoing work to preserve and protect Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve.

About the Event

Building on SCA’s 2024 50th Anniversary celebration, this year we will welcome well over 100 guests to a special farm-to-table dining extravaganza featuring locally grown and produced food, wine, and cocktails to preserve our beloved Reserve, support SCA, and applaud the Ag Reserve Community and our partners.

Sponsorship Opportunities

In-Kind Sponsorship

SCA is proud to support a community rich in farmers and producers. Caterers will prepare and serve a delicious farm-to-table feast showcasing locally sourced products generously donated by Ag Reserve farmers and producers.

Please consider donating your signature products—meat, produce, drinks, alcohol, flowers, or other unique local fare to be enjoyed by 120+ guests. Benefits of in-kind sponsorship include:

  • Inclusion in naming of menu items on printed menus at each seat or on bar signage as appropriate

  • Recognition on social media and SCA event communications

  • Logo inclusion on food sponsorship signage in buffet area and dining area.

For more information on in-kind sponsorship, please email Shelley Heron.

About Sugarloaf Citizens Association

Sugarloaf Citizens Association (SCA) is a nonprofit organization of volunteers founded in 1973. Our primary mission is to preserve and protect the Agricultural Reserve—the 93,000 acres of northern Montgomery County zoned in the 1980s for farming, land conservation, and open space. We also advocate for sound environmental stewardship and climate change policies in the Ag Reserve and for the county as a whole—for the benefit of all residents.

Our headquarters at Linden Farm on more than 150 acres in Dickerson, Maryland, is home to SCA’s regenerative agriculture pilot program.

More than 50 Years of Advocacy & Education

With community support, SCA has won legal battles that strengthen the right of citizens to petition the state to challenge the environmental impact of large-scale energy and trash projects.

Key achievements include:

  • Working closely to monitor and advocate on behalf of the Ag Reserve on the proposed Data Center project in Dickerson and across the County

  • Urged Montgomery County to limit the Dickerson incinerator to only accept waste from within the County. We continue our work with the County to reinvent its trash management program, with a primary aim being shuttering the incinerator for good

  • Hosted Montgomery County Executive Candidate Forums for both Democratic and Republican candidates to ensure that Ag Reserve issues were front and center

  • Successfully advocated for the closure of the Dickerson coal-fired power plant

  • Led the fight to defeat a Potomac River bridge into the Ag Reserve because of concerns about the bridge’s negative environmental impact

SCA also engages the Montgomery County Council on all issues potentially affecting the Ag Reserve.
